Bridging Academic Learning with Real-World Business Skills
The Confederation for Hospitality & Culinary Talent Development (CHCTD) offers structured, internship-integrated training opportunities for students pursuing Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programmes.
In line with the evolving higher-education framework in India, internships have become an important component of undergraduate education, providing students with opportunities to gain practical exposure, workplace experience and professional competencies alongside their academic studies. The University Grants Commission (UGC) Internship/Research Internship Guidelines provide for internship as a credit-bearing component of undergraduate programmes and state that an internship of 60–120 hours after the fourth semester is mandatory for students enrolled in UG degree programmes. CHCTD has developed its internship model around this growing need to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical workplace capability. CHCTD’s institutional model is specifically built around internship-enabled, performance-based learning, where participants learn through practical engagement, structured skill development, mentorship, evaluation and progressive responsibility.

Recognizing the changing requirements of today’s employment environment, CHCTD incorporates digital outreach and business growth skills into its internship structure.Students may be trained in practical areas such as social media outreach, digital communication, online business promotion, presentation development, business procurement, lead generation, growth marketing and digital engagement. These skills complement traditional academic knowledge and help students understand how modern organizations attract customers, communicate with stakeholders, develop business opportunities and support organizational growth.
Learning Through Practical Engagement
CHCTD’s approach is based on the principle of learning by doing. Its developmental model emphasizes real-time operational exposure, structured skill-building, performance-based evaluation, coaching and progressive responsibility. The internship may therefore involve practical assignments, supervised activities, business projects, digital outreach tasks, presentations, case-based assignments and workplace-oriented responsibilities. This approach enables students to apply concepts learned in their BA/BBA studies to practical business situations. The UGC’s internship guidelines similarly emphasize that undergraduate internships should provide exposure to actual work situations and help students develop professional competencies, workplace skills and job readiness.
